Amber Harper-Young & Brent Constantine host Vancouverite, a comedy show featuring funny stories about what adjusting to Vancouver has been like, from some of the best Vancouver comedians including Andy Cañete, Stacey MacLachlan, Chris Griffin, Gemma Goletski, Amy Bugg, Kai Benson, Colin Sharp and Dino Archie.

The sold-out March show was beard-free as Katie Ellen Humphries filled in as host for Kyle while he’s in Toronto. Comedy Bucket is the only show in town where comedians are guaranteed to talk about what’s on your mind. Everyone who attends this show will receive a slip of paper, on which they can write anything… anonymously. You don’t sign it, no one looks at it. Straight into the bucket it goes and what comes out is comedy gold… hopefully. A talented crew of jokers will attempt to perform comedic alchemy, right before your very eyes. Whatever you’re thinking about, whatever crosses your mind. Write it down and see what happens. The best comics. The best laughs. Monthly at Hot Art Wet City.
In “Creatures of Habit,” Mandy Tsung and Russell Alton play with the combination of their established themes, threading two worlds, finding contrast & complement amid works that highlight an individuality while relating a common identity. See photos from the show on Flickr >
Mandy Tsung’s paintings are meant to be emotive; to communicate the depths of human experience through gestures and expressions. She was born in Banff, AB, but spent her formative years in Calgary. After completing a BFA in Sculpture at The Alberta College of Art and Design in 2007, she then moved to Vancouver where she now paints full-time. She has exhibited in numerous galleries in North America, Germany, and Australia.
Russell Alton builds an imaginative universe filled with friendship, joy & magic and has it leak into & hopefully influence our own. Hailing from Smithers, BC he now scribbles, paints & prints butts in Vancouver. He has exhibited in BC & the US and his work is collected worldwide.

Teen Angst Night is a juvenilia event that’s been running since 2000. If you were there for the Teenage Wasteland show at HAWC you might remember this storytelling show with karaoke. Jeff Gladstone, Cynara Gee, Kitty M, Kyle Fines, Dina Delbucchia and host Sara Bynoe share stories from their teenage years and then sing a song related to their story. Then it was an open mic for the audience to get in on the angsty teenage memories.
Art & Craft Social
The Art & Craft Social was a stitch n’ bitch, crafternoon, and art jam all rolled into one. HAWC provided the chairs, tables, and space, and participants brought small creative projects to work on. The event was an opportunity to bring together a cross-section of makers, crafters, artists, designers (and all those other titles creative people give themselves), to knit, sew, collage, draw, or paint while they socialize and share. Hosted by Rachael Ashe and Kim Werker.
